Resolution To Grant

Following a virtual planning committee (18th June 2020), we are pleased to announce that Wealden District Council, in line with the Planning Officer’s recommendation has resolved to grant outline planning permission for up to 370 new homes on the 40.8 acre site known as Park Farm West.

The site also includes 35% affordable housing, extensive public open space and play areas including an extension to the existing Hellingly Country Park.

We are now finalising our proposals for site Park Farm East.  We need your help to ensure we deliver a sensitively designed scheme that is tailored to fit the character of Hellingly and the surrounding landscape. You can find out more about this site here.

Pressure On Existing Infrastructure

Land to the north of Hailsham has been identified as a strategic location for growth and is proposed to deliver a total of 1,529 homes between 2013 and 2028.

This allocation includes the land at Park Farm which is identified as a logical and sustainable location for new homes

Funding will be made available via Section 106 contributions.  CIL receipts from the development will also be available to fund improvements for education, highways, public transport, green infrastructure, environmental improvements and leisure/community facilities.

The proposals include the provision on 3.81ha of on-site open space, this will be a combination of formal equipped areas of play and informal recreational areas.  The illustrative masterplan also indicates a network of dedicated pedestrian and cycle routes throughout the site. This is as a result of comments received by Hellingly Parish Council and Hailsham Town Council. 

About This Site

Catesby Estates plc has entered into an agreement to promote land at Park Farm, Hailsham, Hellingly.

The two greenfield land parcels total 139.1 acres, and lie within the administrative area of Wealden District Council and have potential for new homes, affordable housing and community facilities including sports pitches and allotments. 

The sites are within an established residential area with a range of services and facilities within walking distance.  Both sites were identified as draft allocations which formed part of Hailsham North (HN1) in the emerging Wealden Local Plan.

The in-house planning and technical teams will be now be working with the council and other local stakeholders, to bring these sites forward for new homes along with a range of community facilities as outlined in policy recommendations.
