Catesby has been successful in securing outline planning permission for up to 70 units on land south of Whitworth Way in Wilstead.

In allowing the appeal the Inspector noted that the development is well located relative to the settlement boundary and that the proposals would not detract from the qualities of the wider countryside or the character of the settlement.

He considered that the benefits of 70 new homes, including 28 affordable units, in a sustainable location would greatly assist the Council in meeting its housing requirements.  He also identified other benefits which taken together would clearly outweigh the moderate harm caused by the conflict with two policies in the Development Plan, policies which only attract limited weight.

He concluded that the proposal would represent sustainable development as defined in the NPPF.
